The James Ellroy scripted drama written to star Keanu Reeves will be co-financed by Fox Searchlight and New Regency so that it can move forward.
David Ayer (The Fast And The Furious, S.W.A.T.) is doing a rewrite of the script and then is set to direct.
The film centers around a cop (Reeves) who always does what is neeeded of him. He will do whatever it takes to solve homicides or wipe out gang violence, but things are about to turn around. Something happens and he realizes the methods that made him so successful will need to change.
Production on Night Watchman begins April 30.
