According to Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com, Mr. Fuji will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Meltzer has also been reporting rumors of The Shiek’s induction in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (click here for subscription information), and these rumors appear to now be official for this year’s ceremonies, with nephew Sabu making the presentation. This is being seen partially as a concession to Detroit, where The Shiek was the biggest draw prior to 1984. Other names being strongly rumored for the Hall of Fame this year are Afa & Sika, The Wild Samoans, and Jim Ross.
In other possible spoilerrific news, Dave Scherer at Pro Wrestling Insider wrote the following in an answer to his Q&A column today: “I have heard the talk that some in WWE feel that Benoit will be moving to Raw after Mania.”
Personally, I’d rather Benoit be moved to the ECW roster, since no big star was ever added to the brand to “replace” Kurt Angle, and he’s been an ECW guy in the past. In fact, maybe the Benoit/Malenko match that was rumored for last year’s One Night Stand could be re-visited for this year’s PPV…
