A project that has been attached to many filmmakers and actors now seems to have both its writer and star in one person.

Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, The 40 Year-Old Virgin) is now finalizing a deal that will not only have him penning the script for Green Hornet but have him in the leading role. Rogen will executive produce along with co-writer Evan Goldberg.

The Green Hornet was a long time radio show way back when and eventually turned into a comic book, TV show, and film in the sixties. Kung fu legend Bruce Lee starred in the TV show as Kato, the Hornet’s sidekick. The new film will tell the story of Brit Reid (Rogen) who is a millionaire publisher that has turned his life to that of a masked crime fighter.

Green Hornet has been a film almost destined for failure since before it ever has gotten started. Numerous directors and writers have been assigned to it but never could quite get it going. The most recent being Kevin Smith who was all set to make it but backed out. The starring role has been attached to actors such as Mark Wahlberg, Jake Gyllenhaal, and George Clooney; but those also just never got rolling.

No release date or other casting is yet, but as more is known, we’ll get it to you.
