Countdown To The L Word Season 5 – Top 400 Moments #360-356

Shows

And now, the next five of the Top 400 moments from Showtime’s The L Word as the march to Season 5 continues. This time around, we deal with lying, not really being that truthful, artpieces, May-December relationships and sex. Here now, moments #360-356.

#360 – It’s Jenny! It’s Debbie! (Lez Girls)

Jenny’s game of deception is in full swing as she, Alice and Shane hang out at a club together. Also in the crowd, dancing together are Stacy and Lindsey which causes a problem for Jenny. While Stacy knows of Jenny quite well, Lindsey only knows Jenny’s secret alter ego, “Debbie.” It’s all in an effort to disprove a statement made by Stacy in her criticism of Jenny’s Some Of Her Parts book. Stacy sees Jenny and points her out as the psycho that’s been stalking her. Lindsey looks around and only sees, “Debbie,” who’s a pretty decent girl as far as Lindsey knows. They make their way over to Jenny AKA “Debbie” and Jenny formulates a quick plan to keep them away. Jenny’s only hope is Alice, who’s nearby. “I need you to kiss me.” Alice is reluctant at first, but Jenny tries to explain in her own way what’s going on and after promising Alice free coffee house drinks for a week, Alice finally agrees. The two pretend to make out, keeping Stacy and Lindsey at bay, with Lindsey thinking that it’s not polite to interrupt such a moment. Jenny’s plan almost falls apart on her.

#359 – Dana Kindasorta Tells Her Friends (Lifeline)

Lara knows. To her, it’s only fair Dana’s friends know what’s going on with her. Dana’s been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, but can’t bring herself to tell her friends as they all gather at the Planet. Dana clumsily explains to them she’s got a lump…a cyst that needs to be taken off. Just a simple procedure, but no big deal. Lara grumbles to herself in sorrow, knowing Dana can’t bring herself to tell the whole truth of the matter. Bette mentions Tina once having a procedure done to remove a similar cyst her breast and that the scar from it can hardly be seen. Helena, who during Season 2 had dated Tina chimes in, agreeing with Bette that one can barely notice it. This creates an awkward pause before the conversation continues. Eventually, the Group Of Friends will have to know, but for now this is just Dana wanting things to still be normal for as long as possible, before the entire World crashes in on her.

#358 – The Unauthorized Abortion Of W (Layup)

It’s always fun when donors pay a visit. Having to play to their likes and dislikes and for the gentleman arriving today, it’s a matter of kowtowing to the right wing. Bette and the, “conservative,” donor arrive at the art department, where Jodi’s class’s works are all on display. The one that gets the donor’s attention…which is also the one that Bette wanted Jodi to hide in a corner, is one called, “The Unauthorized Abortion Of W,” which is an anti-war piece, featuring a Barbara Bush manequin. Barbara is blindfolded and her belly is gutted, with an image of GW Bush’s face and missiles on display. The image is unsettling, particularly for the donor who decides that California University will not be receiving his funds this year. He storms out, leaving Bette, Jodi and Jodi’s interpreter, Tom M to talk amongst themselves. Jodi calmly advises Bette to give the donor a call later on after he’s calmed down and Bette is not happy as she responds, “…And now you’re going to tell me how to do my job?” Bette is in pure alpha mode at this point and for Jodi, this is her first taste of AlphaBette.

#357 – Mary Kay & Menopause (Light My Fire)

Angus and Kit discuss the pros and cons of a younger man/older woman relationship, with Angus giving what he feels are positive examples of such a relationship working. One of the examples he cites is Mary Kay Latourneau, who wound up marrying a student she had an affair with. Angus lets Kit know that he’s crazy about her, but Kit, while turned on by him is still not accepting of a relationship between them as a good idea. Angus goes into more positives, this time about Kit and what she has that’s good, to which Kit replies, “And I have menopause.” She stands, smirks and walks off, leaving Angus with a feeling of swinging and missing.

#356 – Sun Again (Pilot)

The affair had begun in earnest, with a kiss and lots of talking. Now, the talking it put on pause and the kissing leads to much more between Jenny and Marina. For the first time, Jenny experiences sex with a woman instead of a man. She’s aroused and enjoying the passion with each passing second as the sex intensifies between the two. Jenny however still feels the conflict of what she’s doing, as Jenny knows that her boyfriend, Tim is oblivious to what’s happening. The inner conflict of Jenny’s actions brings tears to her eyes while Marina doesn’t even notice.
