News on Brian Adams, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho

News

Dave Meltzer notes in the latest Wrestling Observer that Brian Adams had spoken with Marc Mero a few weeks ago about participating in Mero’s personal training business. The two spoke on the phone but never managed to get anything arranged as Adams went on vacation to Kona, Hawaii, to stay at Bret Hart’s house there. Meltzer describes Adams as the “closest friend among people in the wrestling community” that Hart had left. Hart had left out a manuscript of his autobiography for Adams to read, which was said to have a profound impact on him as it contains many stories about tragedies befalling wrestlers of their generation. Adams wanted to move away from Tampa, Florida, as there are many wrestlers staying there and there is a lot of peer pressure about partying but now he wanted to clean himself up. He wanted to move back to Kona, where he grew up, and talked about running for public office there or even opening up a wrestling school there with Hart, who also wanted to retire there. Back in the day, Adams was said to have been one of the most vocally upset backstage in the WWF following the Montreal screwjob and was fired by Vince McMahon shortly afterwards following an argument.

The Bret Hart autobiography is going to be released through Random House in Canada this October, yet it will not be available in the USA until 2008. Hint: Amazon.ca.

Meanwhile, Chris Jericho’s autobiography got a glowing review from Publisher’s Weekly. They were slightly critical of him glossing over a lot of serious issues in favour of keeping the story light, yet they said it was funny and insightful and as good a read as Mick Foley’s Have A Nice Day.
