Dale Earnhardt Inc. has officially filled the number 8 car for next season once Dale Jr. moves to Hendrick Motorsports. DEI will replace Junior with a combination of Mark Martin and Aric Almirola. Martin’s main sponsor, The US Army, will move with Martin to the number 8 car. The deal is for two years.
Martin, an experienced driver with 35 career wins on the Nextel Cup circuit, will probably be asked to teach the younger Almirola the in’s and out’s of being a NASCAR driver. Martin probably will also help with the car set-up before DEI hands a full time ride to Almirola for the 2010 season.
