WWE Champ Injured?

Archive

WWE.com has reported that WWE Champion John Cena is injured, and will be visiting with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama, to be examined.

Cena is, of course, scheduled to face Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at this Sunday’s No Mercy PPV in Chicago. The article quotes Cena in the locker room after RAW as saying, “No matter how serious the injury, one way or another I’ll be ready to compete on Sunday.”

Since this is on WWE.com, you never know if it is legit or part of a storyline. That being said, PWInsider’s Mike Johnson has since reported that “the word coming from backstage at the Raw taping is that WWE champion John Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle during his main event match against Ken Kennedy.” Johnson goes on to say that Cena is tentatively scheduled to get an MRI tomorrow in Birmingham.

We’ll have more on this story as it is available, and if Cena is indeed injured, we wish him a full, and if possible quick, recovery.
