More Reasons Why Being Deaf Sucks/Rocks – iProd

I’ve got an iPod mini, which means I’ve got a pretty limited number of songs that I can have at my disposal at any given time. And for a guy like me that kinda sucks.

Case in point—I put some songs from the soundtrack to Godzilla on my iPod. And when I was listening to “Air” by Ben Folds Five, I instantly wanted to hear more Ben Folds Five. But the thought of trudging through my collection, taking the CDs out, putting them in my computer and deciding which songs I wanted to have to travel with seemed like such an arduous task that I resigned myself to the fact that I’d need a complete day off to accomplish such a feat.

But sometimes I’m in a Ben Folds Five mood. And sometimes I want to hear Elliot Smith, but he’s nowhere to be found on my iPod. Between my lamentable New Years Resolution, new releases and albums I’ve grown to love this year, I’ve got little room to add the stuff that I might someday want to listen to.

The same thing happened when I picked up the new Foo Fighters album; I really wanted to return to a time when I loved them. But the only Foo at my disposal was the new album, which leaves a little to be desired.

Obviously I need to upgrade to an iPod with larger capacity. Recently I had planned on doing just that, but I had some kinfolk come to town. Being the good relative and host that I am, I offered to foot the bill for most ventures, leaving my savings depleted, and thus, my budget for frivolous spending has equally been diminished.

But I’m responsible enough to probably splurge on an upgrade before the year is out. Of course, that won’t make the process of putting the songs on the iPod any easier. But one step at a time, right? I just wanted to vent. Thanks for listening.
