– Dana White tries to keep Matt Hughes’ head in the competition when Hughes admits to Dana that he doesn’t want to be there anymore. Dana says some very inspirational things to Hughes. At least I’m going to assume that since half of Dana’s conversation was bleeped it was because it was so inspirational that most people couldn’t handle it.

– Mac tries to pep Barrera up when he comes home from the hospital. The only real substantial matter from this scene is that Dan is wearing a droopy lamp shade on his head. Under no circumstances could I imagine that look ever being cool.

– Matt Hughes gets to choose the fight this week and by default, the fight for next week. Matt Serra is up 5-1 and that means he clinches the right to pick the quarterfinal fights. Hughes picks Jared to fight George. It is the fight that Jared wanted.

– Apparently George woke up for practice and didn’t bother to wake up the rest of his teammates despite them oversleeping practice. A little spat over courtesy breaks out but it is just another irrelevant caveat in the most boring season of The Ultimate Fighter I have ever seen. And I recapped Ultimate Fighter 4.

– Jared was hurt during practice and fears he might not be able to fight. He starts to cry a little but Hughes sees it as a passion to fight, something he feels the rest of his fighters lack.

– George does it again. He again lets his teammates snooze while he gets ready for practice. George claims he turned their lights on and that should have woke them up. Did they really have nothing else to work with this season?

– Jared and George get all gay during the face-off. Jared wants to stand on the left during the photo but George is already there and doesn’t want to concede it. Apparently Jared REALLY wants to stand on the left and tries to force is way there. I guess he wanted to hide his cauliflower ear. I say it makes you look like more of a fighter. It’s a fight pose, not a modeling headshot.

– George landed some nice jabs in the fight while Jared doesn’t really do anything to get involved. It’s a pretty slow place and they have a brief but nice scramble that gets them back to their feet. George drops Jared with a left uppercut and follows up with a few more shots that cause the ref to stop the fight. Serra now leads 6-1 and Hughes is speechless.

– Jared goes crazy in the back, throwing chairs and tables around and starts to cry again. He heads outside and Dana gives him the “Everybody Poops” speech but substitute “cries” with “poops.”
