Make Movement: WWE in HD and Hardy Mania

WWE in HD, how many logos can they fit on the screen? In case you didn’t know, you were watching the WWE on USA in WWEHD. If DX were still actively together, we’d have a DX logo I’m sure up there too. The broadcast itself looked great, as I can only imagine how much money it costs the WWE to crank out things in HD. The screens seem to bring everything to the next level and the WWE as they always do, should let that be a shining marketing, innovative star on their portfolio of this year. Overall, a fun night of television, the highlight as usual being Jeff Hardy the rising ShowStoppa Rock Star, Charismatic Enigma. If they don’t let him have the WWE Championship on Sunday, any other time other than WrestleManias will not be the same affect as winning at MSG. I liked the Man of the People promo, almost similar to Stone Cold’s style of promos. A good point was brought up to me by my sister last night, we’d love to see Rob Van Dam back and see Hardy versus RVD with the WWE Title on the line, both have been so popular with fans over the years. Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy have off the charts chemistry in this feud and Orton is the perfect heel catalysis and the promo last night was well done by all parties. Having Orton saying he respects Hardy with such reluctance and difficulty was well done and Hardy basically saying he didn’t swanton Orton for his respect, was perfect.

Shawn Michaels and Mr. Kennedy (I too was rooting for the Packers) pulled off a strong match last night, one of the best in their series. They cranked up the intensity and it’s one of the best TV matches in recent weeks. Nothing else stands out on the show from a wrestling perspective, with the exception of Mickie James losing again to Beth Phoenix in her home state. This time, they seem to be teasing something regarding Mickie’s frustration (she should be crying after months of spinning her wheels in the women’s division), and I hope it means a heel turn against Ashley (who looks completely ridiculous and needs to be eating more). My guess is Maria will be put in the middle of that one.

Chris Jericho’s serious promo was well done, there is no smart comments this time about JBL, it’s personal. There’s nothing else to say other than expect a brawl and I think they will give us something to remember, as JBL has a lot to prove to what he is capable of doing as a active wrestler again.

Brian Kendrick, the poor guy, got a HD-quality Samoan Drop from Umaga. Apparently, the instructions for this match were ‘listen, we’re broadcasting our first RAW in HD tonight, can you crank up the intensity and take out Kendrick quickly?’

Since this PPV sets up the next few months, the Rumble is the most important PPV before WrestleMania. The Rumble match itself this year is pretty hard to predict but sets the course of one of the main event matches of WrestleMania. I’m wondering how long Hornswoggle will last, and if Big Show will be a surprise entry this year. Of course I’m expecting Triple H to be in the final five, with Umaga, Undertaker Batista, and Shawn Michaels and I’m thinking the winner will either be the Undertaker to face Edge at Mania or Triple H to face Hardy at WrestleMania possibly. Regardless, I am looking forward to the PPV this Sunday and I’m looking for WWE to deliver a solid show at the Garden.
