Two Eyebrows Are Better Than One/Pearl Habre Predictions

Chikara’s Two Eyebrows Are Better Than One

Match One: Sara Del Ray vs. Kylie Pierce
This is, without a doubt, going to be a crazy squash match. Del Ray wins after breaking a few of Pierce’s bones.

Match Two: Worker Ant vs. Vin Gerard
Vin Gerard has been on a role lately, and I’m not expecting the role to end this Sunday. He needs to prove to Chikara that making him take his mask off was one of the biggest mistakes they’ve ever made. Worker Ant, still relatively new, doesn’t know what he’s walking into here. Gerard is used to smashing the ants in his cardboard box house behind the ECW Arena. He’s going to bring a little extra something to the match if he wants a chance at beating Gerard. Maybe a little reinforcement with the likes of Fire Ant (HOT PROPERTY!!!!) and (Crank Dat) Soldier Ant. Vin Gerard is going to take the match, no question.

Match Three: The Colony (Fire Ant and Soldier Ant) vs. Team FIST (Icarus and Gran Akuma)
Ever since FIST’s match with the Briscoe Brothers back in August, you could see the break up starting to happen. I predict by mid-May this dynamic duo will turn into CHIKARA’s Feud of the Year. The Colony has been on a role as of late, beating BLKOUT last year getting the last laugh. The Colony will take the win this Sunday, by FIST’s miscommunication.

Match Four: Cheech and Cloudy vs. The Order of the Neo Solar Temple
The Order of the Neo Solar Temple has been on a losing streak and this Sunday it’s going to end. I say The Order will prevail due to Ultramantis Black’s debauchery.

Match Five: Shane Storm vs. Eddie Kingston
Eddie Kingston has been pinned by enemies Tim Donst and The Colony in the closing months of the 2007 Season. He’s not going to let Shane Storm stomp on his pride anymore than Donst and The Colony already have. Eddie Kingston will make Storm send Storm back to the future this Sunday with his Backfist to the Future.

Match Six: Hallowicked vs. Larry Sweeney
This one is a tossup. Hallowicked is hot off of a victory from his year-long feud with Eddie Kingston and Larry Sweeney has got a ton of tricks up his sleeve. Through the fire and the flames, Hallowicked will emerge victorious.

Match Seven: Claudio Castagnoli, Lince Dorado and Ophidian vs. Mike Quackenbush, Tim Donst and Amasis
This will definitely be the match of the night. Another tossup, not quite as predictable as the other matches. Quack and Castagnoli will impress the fine Hellertown audience, as I’m going to say the match will end with these two. Quack will end the match with his Lightning Lock Beta.

PWG’s Pearl Habra
Match One: Los Luchas vs. Ronin and Scorpio Sky
A qualifier for PWG’s 2nd Annual DDT4, this should be a very fun opener. All four men should work very well together to produce a funny and solid wrestling match. Scorpio Sky is just WAY too good to lose in an opening match, so I gotta go with Ronin and Scorpio Sky.

Match Two: Young Bucks vs. Hook Bomberry and TJ Perkins
Yet another Qualifying Match for the 2nd Annual DDT4, Bucks have gotta take this one. If PWG wants fans to take them seriously, they have to give them the bid into the tournament, even if it means beating someone as awesome as Perkins.

Match Three: Chris Hero vs. Human Tornado
Continuing their awesome feud, these two men last met at All Star Weekend 6 where Human Tornado got the last laugh beating Hero’s team and his woman. Hero has to rise and cause terror to the Tornado or the feud will start to get out of hand. With Kingston and Castagnoli in Chikara this Sunday, no one will be around to ambush Hero and protect Tornado. Hero all the way.

Match Four: Rocky Romero vs. Karl Anderson
Karl Anderson has no idea what he’s walking into. I’m saying the next man to take on Low-Ki for his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Title will be Romero, and if he wants that to be true he has to kick and stomp Anderson to the ground quick. Romero has been a fan favorite lately, and walking up against someone so hated, he’ll definitely have the momentum on his side throughout the whole match. Rocky Romero will kick his way to victory.

Match Five: Super Dragon and Davey Richards © vs. Scott Lost and Joey Ryan
This has been a match in the making since Dragon and Richard’s title win during the European Vacation. With Davey Richard’s Drunk and Disorderly Conducts and NOAH Tours, he hasn’t been able to make PWG’s last few shows. With Richards being a busy bee and Dragon becoming less and less mobile as time grows, Lose and Ryan have got to take the gold this Sunday.

Match Six: Low Ki © vs. El Generico
Low-Ki shook the wrestling world after he re-debuted in PWG at All Star Weekend 6, and crumbled the wrestling universe when he won the PWG World Title. His reign is FAR from over. Sure Generico will put up a good challenge, but Low-Ki will retain.

Independent Wrestling News

Chikara

1) Chikara’s “Stephen Colbert > Bill O’Reilly” has been released on DVD on www.smartmarkvideo.com. At the event, Los Ice Creams took on the Osirian Portal, Castagnoli battled Hero and more. Bonus footage is on the extra disc, including their very first Pod-Per-View.

2) Two teams have been added to the King of Trios Tournament this week. The first team is Team Mucha Lucha consisting of Lince Dorado, El Pantera and Incognito. Team WWF has also been added. That’s right… Team WWF! Ax, Smash and One Man Gang will make their return to wrestling during the King of Trios Tournament. Only one could hope this will lead to a Hydra vs. Team WWF match on Night Three.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla

1) Pro Wrestling Guerrilla actually gives me something to work with this week! Their event on January 27th has been dubbed Pearl Habra. The full card has been given, and boy is it loaded. Check it out in the Upcoming Events section.

2) Just as fast as the event is made official, the card changes. Jack Evans suffered from a face injury and will be pulled from Pearl Habra. His match with Roderick Strong will be postponed.

Other Indy News

1) Eddie Kingston returned to Combat Zone Wrestling on January 12th. Making his debut that night was Devon Moore. Both men will hopefully raise interest in former fans of CZW.

2) Memphis Wrestling Promoter Corey Maclin is suing World Wrestling Entertainment. Earlier in 2007, Memphis Wrestling had promised the fans the main event of Hulk Hogan vs. Jerry Lawler. But due to contractual reasons, WWE wouldn’t permit Lawler to take place in this epic battle. Big Show (Paul Wight) was Lawler’s replacement for the match.

3) Westside Xtreme Wrestling recently announced the sixteen competitors for this year’s 16 Carat Gold Tournament. Click Here to see their upcoming events which contains the list of wrestlers.

4) Speaking of European Super Tournaments, King of Europe Cup has confirmed that their event will take place on May 3rd and May 4th.

What’s Good In The World of Pulse Wrestling?

1) Jake Mulligan recently posted a new edition of his Spotlight On Japan. NOAH news, WRESTLEJAM 3 news and NJPW news. Super cool stuff.

2) I really hate televised wrestling. I despise it. But, there is one event I go WAY out of my way to watch: The Royal Rumble. This week’s edition of Mark Allen’s Historically Speaking analyzes the wrestlers in this year’s Rumble who have the chance to be the last man standing.

3) Pulse Glazer compares Kane to Jack Evans in this week’s edition of Ring of Honor Weekly. And no it’s not because they both now have ugly faces.
