According to MLB.com, it looks like #2 overall pick Pedo Alvarez has not signed his deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates and his agent, Scott Boras, is looking to re-negotiate the deal. Apparently, Alvarez came to a verbal agreement after the August 15th, midnight deadline and will not sign the deal until it’s revised. Boras wants to get another $200,000 for his client, which would match the bonus Buster Posey received.
The Players Association today filed a grievance against the Pirates because the deal was agreed upon after the deadline. Apparently the Royals and their first round pick, Eric Hosmer, could also be involved as he signed his deal after Alvarez did.
