Gossip Girl – Episode 2-7 Review

Top Story

Finally some Blair and Chuck interaction! And some steamy ones at that!

Blair is fed up with Vanessa who has been blackmailing her so she enlists deviant Chuck to take her out—the Chuck way—by seducing her. After seeing Chuck get closer to Vanessa, Blair’s claws come out in jealously.

Serena is back in bitch mode and this time it’s directed at her mother who’s been anything but a mother. She lashes out on her in front of reporters after Lily lays down curfews and other completely normal and reasonable rules that are way to strict for an Upper East Side socialite. Oh get over it, S.

Poor Nate is just that—poor. He’s been hanging out with Dan lately, much to the dislike of Chuck, and Dan accidentally comes upon Nate’s living conditions. Nate’s been sleeping on the floor of his now empty and seized home. At first he gets defensive with Dan, but then goes to stay with him, Rufus and Jenny. It’s nice to see Nate and Dan’s friendship. Unlike he and Chuck, Nate and Dan aren’t about scheming and making everyone’s lives miserable and/or less glamorous. It’s a very normal friendship. Dan even calls him “bro.” Actually, that sounds a little too boring for the likes of Gossip Girl. We’ll see how long it lasts…

Jenny and Eric are still on the back burner in terms of storylines. Jenny was just an accessory to the Dan/Nate and Vanessa stories while Eric finally had some lines. I know, amazing right? He teamed up with Serena and explained to Lily that she wasn’t the best mom. Boringness follows. We also get to see Eric’s boyfriend who makes a brief appearance. I feel like there is a lot of potential with this, but who knows where it will go.

And finally, we have another steamy Chuck and Blair hookup…well almost. Blair concedes to Chuck after he tries to help Vanessa save a Brooklyn speakeasy and she can’t bare to see them together. While kissing, Chuck asks for one thing—the same thing Blair wanted. Three words, eight letters, three syllables. He called her bluff and she couldn’t say it. So for now, Chuck is done chasing. Oh come on, how long until they are happy together?!? Oh wait, this is television. We all know the chase always ends up being more exciting than the actual relationship.

Next week’s previews leave us with no leads. All we see is Jenny getting yelled at by Eleanor. Oh and Marissa Cooper’s sister (from The OC) makes an appearance as a new character working with Jenny. That’s all we get. Are they serious?

Guess we’ll have to tune in to watch what happens with the better storylines.
