DVD to Feature 22 Episodes in a Three-Disc Collector’s Set
BURBANK, CA (November 3, 2008) – Your court date has been set for February 3, 2009, the day Warner Home Video (WHV) releases the second season of the hilarious 80’s classic comedy Night Court on DVD. The magic trick performing, Mel Torme-loving Judge Harry T. Stone (Harry Anderson) is ready to preside over another season full of crazy cases and off-the-wall defendants along with the help of his equally wacky staff. Titled Night Court: The Complete Second Season, this three-disc collector’s set will include all 22 episodes from the series’ sophomore season. This release will retail for $29.98 SRP.
Judge Stone and his motley crew of courtroom characters, including the unscrupulous and sexually charged district attorney Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), bailiff “Bull” Shannon (Richard Moll) and fellow bailiff Selma (Selma Diamond), return for a rollicking second season of dispensing justice to the assorted nuts of night court. Joining them in the courtroom this year are “Noo Yawk” savvy defender Billie Young (Ellen Foley) and Vietnam vet Mac Robinson (Charles Robinson), the court clerk. Cases on the docket for Season Two include an invisible man, a mogul madman, a lovelorn nun, hookers, pickpockets, flashers, wackos, weirdos, gonzos and great guest stars including Michael Richards, Stella Stevens, Jack Gilford, John Astin, Lou Ferrigno and as substitute defender Christine Sullivan, played by Markie Post, who will become a full-time cast member in the show’s third season.
Night Court first aired on NBC in 1984 as a mid-season replacement and stayed in session for nine seasons, ending its run in 1992. As part of NBC’s Thursday night line-up, Night Court was consistently ranked among the top 30 in the Nielsen ratings. The series won a total of nine Emmy® Awards with John Larroquette’s role as District Attorney Dan Fielding garnering him the Emmy® Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy four years in a row (1985-1988). The second season of Night Court was nominated for a total of seven Emmy® Awards, with one win for John Larroquette in his role as Dan Fielding.
