Rasslin’ Roundtable – TNA Turning Point

Features, Roundtables

Tonight TNA presents Turning Point, which is headlined by Sting facing AJ Styles and Kevin Nash taking on Samoa Joe. What do the Inside Pulse staffers think will happen? Find out inside!

TNA World title
Sting (c) vs. AJ Styles

Danny Cox: Has Sting held onto his annual title win long enough? Yup!
Winner and NEW Champ – AJ Styles

Paul Marshall: No way Styles will win the title this soon into the MEM takeover, but Sting will go out of his way to make Styles good. I can guess interference, as usual with TNA Title matches, but the match should be good at least.
Winner: Sting

Mark Allen: This is the longest Sting has held the TNA Championship since he’s been with the company, but for once he’s got an angle that makes sense with him keeping the belt. Logically he should hold this all the way until the May PPV or Slammiversary and put AJ or someone else over huge then.
Winner – Sting

David Brashear: And we finally have a new feud. No way AJ wins it tonight, but I think letting AJ chase the belt for a while might get some momentum back under him. Then, when he does win the belt, it could really help elevate AJ back into the main event (something they desperately need to do if they want to have the old guys (MEM) vs. new (TNA originals).
Winner – Sting

Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash

Paul Marshall: Kevin looks to be getting better in the ring. I can see Samoa Joe beating Kevin here to get retribution.
Winner: Samoa Joe

Mark Allen: Joe should just destroy him and be done with it, but this probably won’t be a one-and-done.
Winner – Samoa Joe

David Brashear: If Sting’s going to take the main, then Joe needs to win here. It probably won’t be clean, but it’ll be a win against the MEM.
Winner – Samoa Joe

Danny Cox: Cuz THIS equals ratings. I dunno, could be kind of interesting because Nash truly is the most entertaining personality in all of TNA while Joe is the best wrestler in all of TNA. Still, not sure if that will equal up to a good match. Shenanigans.
Winner – Kevin Nash

TNA Legends title
Booker T (c) vs. Christian Cage

Mark Allen: They really hotshotted the Christian-join-the-Mafia angle way too soon into this storyline. We haven’t had a good Russo swerve in a long time, so I say Christian drops the fall and then says he was with the Mafia all along.
Winner – Booker T

David Brashear: Let’s take a look at this. First up, there’s no way that Booker’s dropping “his” title. It’s like DiBiase dropping the Million Dollar Belt – when it happened (in the middle of his feud with Virgil), it really figured into the storyline well. The second question is – will Christian join the Mafia? Don’t think so. The Mafia’s got the full membership it needs now. They don’t need to water the group down. While Christian is better as a heel, I don’t see it happening here. I could, however, see Christian refusing to help the young guys as well, because he’s arrogant enough to see himself as not needing them either.
Winner – Booker T

Danny Cox: Gayest title ever…succkkkaaahhh!
Winner and STILL Champ – Booker T

Paul Marshall: I’m going to make the guess that Christian wins the Legend’s Title and still join the Main Event Mafia. I don’t buy Christian’s neutrality because we all know he’s better as a heel rather than a face.
Winner: Christian Cage

TNA World Tag Team titles
Beer Money, Inc. (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns

David Brashear: Dear Jeff Jarrett. Put the titles on the Guns already. That is all.
Winners – MCMG

Danny Cox: From the doghouse to the penthouse…about damn time too.
Winners and NEW Champs – MCMG

Paul Marshall: I’m happy MCMG is getting a decent push after many months in the doghouse. I can almost bet on new tag team champions, since Team 3-D has to get back at Beer Money for what they did at iMPACT.
Winners: The Motor City Machine Guns

Mark Allen: I really want the MCMG to win, but it looks like Beer Money has got runs with Morgan/Abyss and Team 3-D ahead of them yet.
Winner – Beer Money

Falls Count Anywhere
Abyss vs. Kurt Angle

Danny Cox: This could be a pretty good match in that Abyss plays the monster role rather well and Angle can actually play guy in peril or in charge. Hmmm…still hate the friggin white outfit Abyss wears and I’m sure Morgan will get involved here. More shenanigans.
Winner – Kurt Angle

Paul Marshall: Falls Count Anywhere and Kurt Angle…you know that the booking team is wanting to piss him off for those comments made a while back. Angle wins, however…and he will continue to want Jeff Jarrett.
Winner: Kurt Angle

Mark Allen: Don’t care at all about Abyss, so I’ll just go with Angle because Abyss looks to be tied with Beer Money in a tag title feud after this anyways.
Winner – Kurt Angle

David Brashear: Angle wins it, possibly because Abyss doesn’t understand the rules of the match.
Winner – Kurt Angle

Rhino vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir

Paul Marshall: It’s non-title and a pin won’t hurt Bashir that badly. GORE! GORE! GORE!
Winner: Rhino

Mark Allen: Is this for the X-Division Championship? They should really clarify that.
Winner – Bashir

David Brashear: Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to see titles defended on PPVs.
Winner – Rhino

Danny Cox: Why?
Winner – Rhino

Awesome Kong/Raisha Saeed vs. Taylor Wilde/Roxxi

Mark Allen: With the new power alliance between Kong and Khan I see them building momentum to solidify their team. Plus it will continue to make Taylor and Roxxi look like underdogs.
Winner – Kong and Saeed

David Brashear: Kong and Saeed go over here, possibly with help from Rhaka. Either way, they need to start setting up a new program for the women’s title.
Winners – Kong/Saeed

Danny Cox: Taylor Wilde has been dominated lately and she’s lost all credibility. Roxxi is being wasted.
Winner – Masked Kong

Paul Marshall: Any bets on Roxxi turning on Taylor Wilde? Nah, that’d be too easy in Russo’s World. How about Roxxi pinning the champion to get a title shot?
Winners: Roxxi & Wilde

X-Division seeding match
Sonjay Dutt vs. Eric Young vs. Jay Lethal vs. Consequences Creed vs. Petey Williams vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Homicide vs. Doug Williams vs. Tanahashi vs. Volador Jr.

David Brashear: There are actually several ways that TNA could go with this. Several well-known Mexican stars (Perro Aguayo Jr. among them) have just left CMLL. Perro’s publicly said before he won’t sign with the WWE because he basically felt he’d be buried. By pushing Volador here, they could show these guys that there’s another alternative to the WWE in the US and possibly lure some of them into signing. The downside to that is that they might risk alienating CMLL (who they got Team Mexico from last year in the X-Cup tourney).

Dutt and Lethal will probably eliminate each other. Creed and Petey’s last runs with the belt didn’t make much of an impact. I’d love to see Tanahashi take it, but I don’t believe it’ll happen. That leaves Homicide, Rave, and Young – any of whom could be fun as champ. I’ll take them, Tanahashi, and Volador as the top five. As for the winner?
Winner – Eric Young

Danny Cox: Seeding match? The hell?
Winner – Jay Lethal

Paul Marshall: Here’s my seeding guess: Eric Young, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Consequences Creed, Petey Williams, Homicide, Tanahashi, Jimmy Rave, Volador Jr., and Doug Williams. Did I mention that I hate seeding matches because TNA never follows through with them?
Winner: Eric Young

Mark Allen: Bashir has already had runs with Lethal, Williams and Creed, so I’ll say EY wins this seeding match to start a program for the belt. Just for grins I’ll say the seeding goes
10.Rave 9.Volador 8.Doug Williams 7.Homicide 6.Petey Williams 5.Creed 4.Dutt 3.Lethal 2.Tanahashi 1.EY
Winner – EY
