More Episodes of NBC's Medium and CBS's Worst Week and Gary Unmarried Ordered!

News

There’s good news for fans of CBS’ freshman comedies Worst Week and Gary Unmarried, as well as NBC’s Emmy-winning Medium.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, all three shows have received orders for additional episodes, albeit with variable votes-of-confidence.

The trade paper says things are most positive for the Jay Mohr vehicle Gary Unmarried. Averaging 7.4 million viewers anchoring CBS’ new Wednesday comedy hour, Gary has been picked up for seven additional episodes, plus two scripts. That doesn’t exactly equal a back-nine order, but it’s pretty close.

Gary hasn’t averaged as many viewers as the 9.9 million people tuning in for Worst Week, but it also doesn’t have Two and a Half Men as its lead-in. Perhaps that’s why CBS has only ordered three additional episodes of Worst Week.

It isn’t just CBS feeling generous, though.

Medium, which has yet to settle on its NBC midseason home, got a boost from its network. NBC has ordered six additional episodes on top of the 13-episode midseason order.

The midseason-and-then-some order probably has something to do with the struggles of NBC’s fall lineup. My Own Worst Enemy, the drama occupying Medium’s former Monday 10 p.m. ET time slot, has already been cancelled. The network also has Lipstick Jungle in limbo and Crusoe hanging on by a thread, meaning that a surplus of Medium might be a boon.
