So said Dana White at the post-UFC 97 press conference. Liddell stopped short of confirming it, saying he needed go home and talk to friends and family, but that he was probably retired.
White revealed that a deal had been struck between he and his longtime friend. He wanted Liddell to retire after the Evans loss, but Chuck wanted another shot at the light heavyweight championship, so White agreed to let him fight Rua with one special condition: if he did not knock Rua out, he would retire from fighting.
