TNT Loads Up on Summer Programming

News

TNT is making good on its promise to offer three nights of original programming by 2010 — by doing it this summer.

The cable channel will roll out three new shows — the dramas Hawthorne and Dark Blue and an unscripted show called Wedding Day — to go with four returning series. TNT’s Monday and Tuesday lineups will debut in June, with the third night — Wednesdays — joining the party in July.

The hit crime show The Closer will kick off its fifth season in its customary 9 p.m. Monday spot on June 8. Sophomore series Raising the Bar, which had a huge debut last year before tailing off sharply, will follow at 10.

The Tuesday lineup will make its debut on June 16. Wedding Day, from Mark Burnett Productions, will follow celebrity wedding planner Diann Valentine and chef and event planner Alan Dunn as they plan and execute ceremonies for couples who have given a lot to others but may not have much for themselves. It will air at 8 p.m. ET, followed by the new drama Hawthorne, which stars Jada Pinkett Smith as the director of nursing at a Richmond, Va., hospital. The third season of Saving Grace will air at 10 p.m. Tuesdays.

A new season of Leverage and Dark Blue, a new show about undercover cops in Los Angeles (which is, by the way, unrelated to the 2002 movie of the same name) that stars Dylan McDermott, will premiere on Wednesday, July 15.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
