MTV Wants To "Americanize" Skins

MTV has won the rights to develop an American version of the British series, Skins, which follows a group of teenagers through all the awkward, exhilarating and humiliating moments on the way to growing up. Bryan Elsley, who co-created the British series with his son Jamie Brittain, will executive produce the U.S. show.

The American version will be set in Baltimore and will employ unknown teenage actors to star in and write the show.

Skins is one of those rare shows that cuts through to its core audience with unusually authentic stories due to the unique writing and casting process that Bryan pioneered,” says Liz Gateley, who heads series development at MTV. “I am beyond thrilled to bring it to MTV in the U.S. We intend to preserve the authenticity of the British version, and are excited to collaborate with the original team to develop stories that will speak to American youth.”

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
