Warner Bros. Conjures up a Half-Blood Prince and Double-Dips

News

Warner Home Video has set Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for DVD and Blu-ray Disc release on December 8th. The film will have three releases: a single-disc DVD (SRP $28.98), a 2-disc DVD ($34.99 – with Digital Copy) and a Blu-ray combo pack that includes DVD and Digital Copy versions ($35.99). The standard DVD will contain no extras, and will be available in either widescreen or full-screen. The two-disc release comes with additional scenes, two behind-the-scenes documentaries (“Close-Up with the Cast and Crew of Harry Potter,” “J.K. Rowling: A Year in the Life”), two short featurettes on the cast (“One Minute Drills,” “What’s On Your Mind”), a look at Universal Orlando’s new Harry Potter-themed attraction and a digital copy (YAY!).

The Blu-ray Combo Pack contains all the special features listed above, plus these exclusives: WB Maximum Movie Mode, BD-Live Media Center and BD-Live interactivity. Take a look at the artwork below.

That same day, Warner is dipping into the Harry Potter franchise and is producing Ultimate Editions of the Harry Potter films. The first two – Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets (SRP $39.92 each on DVD and $49.99 on Blu-ray) – will arrive day-and-date with the release of Half-Blood Prince.

Each will include both theatrical and “extended” versions of the films, 48-page photo books, new cast introductions, screen-test footage, all-new featurettes (as well as many that appeared on the original DVD and BD releases), and Digital Copy versions. Blu-ray owners will get the new In Movie Experience and Maximum Movie Mode options on the Blu-ray versions featuring director Chris Columbus, complete with PIP video, photos and artwork. I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
