Light-heavyweight fighter Vladimir Matyushenko has confirmed his upcoming with rising UFC star, Jon “Bones” Jones. Matyushenko has told several sources of the pending fight with Jones.

The two will face off at UFC on Versus 2, the second of two fight cards to air in 2010 on Versus, on Aug. 1 in Salt Lake City.

Matyushenko (24-4) is coming off a split decision win over Eliot Marshall at the first UFC on Versus event. The 39-year-old Belarusian fighter is 2-0 since returning to the UFC last September. The former IFL light-heavyweight champion has won 11 of his last 12 fights, with the only loss coming to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in January 2009, at Affliction: Day of Reckoning.

Jon Jones, who headlined the first UFC on Versus card, won Knockout of the Night at that event when he dispatched Brandon Vera in the first round of their bout.

Jones (10-1) is one of the fastest rising stars in the UFC. His only loss came via a disqualification to Matt Hamill due to illegal elbow strikes to Hamill’s head. Jones had been in firm control of the fight prior to the illegal strikes, but Hamill was given the win after being unable to continue thanks to the elbows.
