The Real Housewives of New York City – Episode 3-3

Tonight’s foray into Crazytown begins with a rather nice scene between LuAnn and her daughter. It’s moments like these that make me not totally hate these women. Also rather charming? Bethenny at the Learning Annex. She’s really good at communicating in a funny way, probably why she’s so popular on the show.

But this isn’t all family and laughter, the drama will always find its way in. This time it’s at a Fashion Night Out event as Jill and LuAnn pounce on Alex, demanding gossip about Ramona’s lunch. Jill is salivating and practically forces alcohol into Alex’s hand, and LuAnn straight up asks if she’s on their team. Kelly just stands there and smiles. Maybe Kelly’s a secret genius, because in moments like these she says nothing and manages to come across a hundred times nicer. Alex is rational, calm, normal Alex, and insists she’s friends with everyone. That must be hard when two of them are laughing about your children’s behavior and have double standards about nudity.

She discusses this with Simon. People can be kind of weird about their kids, but I see why she’s upset. Jill is very nit picky, and the ribbing about parenting would get to any mother. Sometimes I wish Alex would just explode and rip into her the way Ramona or Bethenny would. Based on previews, I think that’s something we will all see.

Bethenny, Jill, LuAnn, and Kelly all show up at the same fashion show. Recipe for a disaster, AKA a good episode of reality television. Bethenny tries to talk to Jill after the show, and just as they’re having it out, Kelly states that this is not the place or time. I get that fights shouldn’t be conducted in a public arena, but Bethenny wisely notes that Jill is talking to everyone else about their fight except her.

Kelly takes Jill away but it doesn’t do any good because LuAnn is still there to fight for her instead. This is something that always happens in RHONYC but never makes any sense. Why do they pick battles that aren’t theirs? LuAnn may have heard Bethenny’s message, but she doesn’t know everything that happened between them. Not her place. I agree with Bethenny that the message should have stayed privates, it was kind of creepy for Jill to put it out there for others to hear.

Random Thoughts:

  • “To entertain people with your weirdness!” Kelly’s children must get their intelligence from their father.
  • I think Kelly can be pretty, she’s a former model and has great legs. But she also has skin like leather, the shoulders of a linebacker, and the abs of an Olympic swimmer. Really, Playboy? Really?
  • Also, the fur thing? Sometimes she begs to be made fun of, it’s too easy.
