Suppan was in the final year of a 4-year $42 million deal he signed before 2007.
In Milwaukee he went 29-36 with a 5.08 ERA. This year he was 0-2 with a 7.84 ERA.
Suppan was a key member of the Cardinals team that won a World Series, he was named NLCS MVP.
The Brewers owe Suppan the remainder of his $12.5 million salary this season as well as a $2 million buyout of his 2011 club option.
