The Justice League has tragically fallen in battle, and now we see the aftermath.

How does the world react to the Justice League being gone? Which heroes rise up…and which villains try to take advantage? And what dark forces are lying in wait to attack?

An all-star roster of DC talent showcases a world without a Justice League and sets the stage for next month’s Dark Crisis event!

The first story features Nightwing Dick Grayson and Superboy / Superman Jon Kent and a discussion about death.

Nightwing has faith the Justice League will return as they have in the past when they died.

However, it is not a guarantee as some have not (yet?) come back from the dead like Alfred Pennyworth the Batman Family’s father figure.

The next story focuses on the Flash Wally West and Kid Flash Wallace West…

…dealing with opportunistic villains in the wake of the Death of the Justice League.

Wally West feels a responsibility to ensure the world remains protected by its remaining super-heroes.

The next story features Green Lantern Hal Jordan’s return and learning of the Death of the Justice League from Aquaman Jackson Hyde.

They defeat a threat and…

…Green Lantern tells Aquaman and his young allies to be ready to step up when they’re needed soon.

We then get a Pariah tale, set before the events of Justice League #75, and his lonely existence…

…without his family where…

…we see him corrupted by the Great Darkness to be its pawn.

The last story features Stephanie Brown Batgirl and Suicide Squad villain Nocturna…

…the latter of whom is…

…is recruited to Deathstroke’s Secret Society of Super-Villains?!

Here is your Dark Crisis event checklist.

The Pulse:

While I found the various stories interesting, with decent art, but they didn’t have the weight to them to make them feel like essential ready for Dark Crisis. It felt more like laying the groundwork for how the world is after Justice League #75 and the Death of the Justice League before Dark Crisis #1 lands. I feel like this issue was misstep in the Dark Crisis saga and billed as more relevant to the event than it really is. 4 out of 10.
