NHL News: Los Angeles Kings Reportedly Out Of Kovalchuk Running

News

The Kings were considered to be a favorite and a near perfect landing sport of the high scoring winger.

The LA Times reported that according to Kings GM Dean Lombardi, talks with Kovalchuk were over. “We took our best shot to meet his needs and the team’s,” Lombardi said.

With LA out of the running that narrows the suspected field of suitors for Kovy to the New Jersey Devils and the New York Islanders (because who would want to live and play in LA if you can live in New Jersey or play for the Islanders…).

Kovalchuck turned down two long term offers from Atlanta last season before the Thrashers sent him to New Jersey.

Kovalchuk scored 41 goals in Atlanta and New Jersey last season and has 338 career goals in 621 regular-season games.
