10 Thoughts on WWE Raw for 07.21.10 feat. John Cena vs The Nexus, Randy Orton vs Edge and MITB Build Up

Reviews, Shows, Top Story, TV Shows

Here we are with another 10 Thoughts on WWE Monday Night Raw. Tonight we have The Nexus taking on John Cena, Randy Orton vs Edge and so much more. Please remember that my thoughts are taken down in real time as I watch the show! For thoughts on where The Nexus angle is going after the developments tonight and heading into Money in the Bank check out itswilltime.wordpress.com. Enough with the plug, here come 10 Thoughts!

1. Why is the suspension for interfering in the Nexus vs John Cena match worse than the first two strikes under the Wellness Policy?

2. The Uso Brothers and The Hart Dynasty could have a really good program ahead of them. Sadly, I’m more interested in seeing the Tag Team Championships end up on two members of The Nexus (Sheffield and Gabriel perhaps).

3. People have been clamoring to see Chris Jericho be the leader of The Nexus. WWE decided to tease that this was where they were going tonight. I believe that it is too obvious, but it isn’t time for The Nexus to turn on the WWE heels yet.

4. Does John Morrison really need to have the worst jokes in the history of wrestling? If WWE is wondering why Morrison has yet to reach the level of a main event player, they need to overhaul how he is being written and just let him be himself.

5. Dear Michael Cole, yes I could imagine if Edge were to spear someone from a ladder. In fact, I have seen Wrestlemania X-7’s classic TLC match where Edge performed that memorable spot. Please do not ask me to imagine things that actually happened again.

6. The Air-Bourne into an RKO was one of the coolest moves I’ve seen in a long time. I know Diamond Dallas Page originated that move, but Randy Orton has certainly perfected it. Thank you DDP for teaching it to Orton (also, Karl Malone knows it too).

7. The announcement of R-Truth’s replacement being Mark Henry fell very flat for me. Sure he provides a good base for the smaller guys to work off of, but no one actually believes that he could win.

8. And now we get the Doink the Clown sighting for this year. At least he was evil Doink for this one. Has any mid-lower card ever gotten as much exposure as Raw’s does with the Guest Host made matches?

9. The Nexus win was almost anticlimactic (but not as anticlimactic as TNA Victory Road), but none of them looked bad in the ring. The main concern going into the first in ring appearance for The Nexus was if they would look terrible from bell to bell and thankfully they did not. For more on where The Nexus stand check out itswilltime.wordpress.com.

10. “Chaotic situations cause strange alliances” was a great call from Michael Cole. It was a natural moment that summed up the action. That said, it was too soon for Cena and Sheamus to band together against The Nexus. There was an entire month of TV wasted in Sheamus’ realization that they weren’t against him.

That’s all I have for this week! Please remember that I will be checking back here on Thursday with The People’s Column. Also, I have an analysis of where The Nexus angle stands going into Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV on my blog, itswilltime.wordpress.com.
