So far it had been just the Jets putting offers on the table for Revis, Revis and his agent have finally given a counter offer.
The contract was reportedly offered last Friday at a diner meeting in Roscoe between Revis’ agents and Jets management. Though details of the offer weren’t released, Revis’ agent did say that it was a creative offer that worked with the Jets reluctance to include a large signing bonus.
The news of the contract offer came just hours after Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan said the team was preparing to play without Revis for an extended period of time.
“We’re going to prepare like he’s not going to be here,” Ryan said after the morning practice. “If he comes through the door, that’s fine. Somebody will kiss him on the lips, probably. It doesn’t matter. We’re getting this team ready. The guys that are here, we’re getting ready.”
