The Jets have quietly been negotiating with Mangold about an extension.
The contract would reportedly make Mangold the highest paid center in the league.
Mangold, a first-round pick in 2006, was entering the final year of his rookie contract. Because of an escalator, he was due to make $3.3 million.
Mangold had originally hinted that he might hold out like teammate Darrelle Revis, but decided to get into camp and “see what happens.”
