Jim Furyk missed his tee-time for the Wednesday Pro-Am due to oversleeping.
The rule that players who were scheduled to play in the Pro-Am would not be allowed in that weeks tournament if they missed their Pro-Am tee time. The rule was implemented in 2004 when missing the weekly pro-am was becoming rampant.
However, on Tuesday PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem announced that such instances for the rest of the year would be handled as a tour disciplinary matter and further sponsor obligations would be required.
A player who misses the pro-am entirely without an excuse for family emergency or illness still will be declared ineligible for the event.
