MLB News: Rangers Starting Pitcher Cliff Lee Complains Of Stiff Back

News

Lee was knocked around in his last start and complained of back stiffness after the game.

Rangers assistant GM Thad Levine said tests on Cliff Lee revealed no structural damage and that the issue was muscular. Lee received a trigger point injection, the club hopes that will reduce inflammation and allow him to stay on track.

The Rangers are waiting to see how Lee responds to a bullpen session this weekend. His next start has been pushed back from Monday to Tuesday.

“He’s going to join us on Friday and we’ll see where he is,” Levine said. “At this point, he’s still on track to make his start next week.”
