10 Thoughts Review on Secret Six #25 by Gail Simone and J. Calafoire

10 Thoughts, Reviews

1. Bane’s Secret Six and the originals are both sent on missions on a Savage Land looking area. Can they succeed?

2. Bane’s squad is introduced via a quick, successful mission. They seem far more powerful than their counterparts, but will naturally be taken out by them anyway.

3. The last issue has apparently driven Catman near suicidally insane. He’d better get it together or the new team will wreck him. His character arch has been the best part of this series, as he’s a truly conflicted, great character and the only truly redeemable member of the squad.

4. The cover of this, with a character select like a fighting game, is awesome and would pull me in were I a new reader.

5. I get that we needed a secluded spot to develop the two teams rivalry or working together or whatever, but, really, dinosaurs again! At least we get a cool fight against gryphons.

6. Claiming the land for the USA in exchange for clemency for past crimes is a nice touch, were it not what everyone always promises.

7. The art remains top notch on this book, as it’s easily DC’s most consistently great book at this point, having gone on twice the time of it’s nearest competitor of similar quality, Batman and Robin. Action Comics with Lex Luthor is still young, but absolutely oozes potential.

8. Deadshot having the doctor tell Black Alice that she isn’t responsible for her father’s cancer, rather than seeking a cure or anything actually useful, is perfect for that sociopath.

9. The return of “Mockingbird” a secret employer is great. I really hope it’s Lex Luthor, as a crossover with the excellent “Action Comics” is reportedly brewing and only improved by the fact that Lex put the team together back in Villains United.

10. Rating: 7/10 – I can’t wait for these teams to begin interacting in between fighting one another and huge dinosaurs and Catman going potentially mad. There’s a lot going on here, all of it compelling.
