Early Look at WWE Wrestling’s Highest Flyers DVD Set

Disc Announcements, News

The lightweight, the cruiserweight, the high flyer – call them what you will. These types of wrestlers have always had a place in the wrestling world. While they may be dwarfed by larger competitors, more often then not their matches would be the most talked about match of a PPV telecast. Brian Pillman vs. Jushin “Thunder” Liger from SuperBrawl II is one of the best opening matches on a wrestling card, and is probably top five (maybe top three) when discussing the best opening bouts. (For the record, my personal pick as the best opener is Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart from WrestleMania X.)

This October, World Wrestling Entertainment will recognize the contributions of the high flyer with the DVD release Wrestling’s Highest Flyers, a 3-Disc set featuring 9 hours of footage. The DVD set will be released on October 12, 2010.

A full match listing is yet to be announced, but wrestlingdvdnews.com [via Silvervision] has reported that one match has been confirmed:

Great Muta vs. Sting
Starrcade at the Tokyo Dome (New Japan Supershow)
March 21, 1991
