MLB News: Colorado Rockies Pitcher Aaron Cook Suffers Broken Leg

News

Cook was hit in the leg by a line drive off the bat of Joey Votto in the 6th inning of Wednesday nights game.

Aaron Cook was cruising through the first 5 innings and had a 9-1 lead until he was struck by a line drive from Joey Votto. Cook limped around on the mound for a few minutes before leaving the game. He was originally diagnosed with a bruised leg, but X-Rays revealed a non-displaced leg fracture.

Cook had shown signs of improvement over his last few starts and the Rockies are hopeful he will make it back this season.

“As far as any time frame or anything like that, I can’t speak about that right now,” Rockies manager Jim Tracy said after the game. “This may not be a season-ending thing is my understanding. Yet, we have to take it a day at a time and see where it all goes.”
