MLB News: New York Mets Pitcher Johan Santana Out For Season With Shoulder Injury

The Mets announced that Santana will undergo surgery on his injured left shoulder.

Johan Santana suffered a tear of the anterior capsule of the shoulder and will undergo season ending surgery. Santana was 11-9 this season with a 2.98 ERA.

The injury is in the front of the shoulder near the pectoral muscled, causing pain through the pectoral and shoulder. Santana is expected to be ready for spring training next season.

Dillion Gee will take Santana’s spot in the rotation.
