In one of the rarer and more amazing on-field injuries in recent memory, Chicago Cubs rookie Tyler Colvin was actually stabbed in the chest with a fragment of a bat.
Cubs’ teammate Welington Castillo’s bat flew at Colvin as Colvin rounded third towards home in a game against the Florida Marlins. According to ChicagoBreakingSports, the wound “was only a few inches from his heart and could’ve been much more serious.” Instead, there is “minimal external bleeding” and he is in stable condition, ESPN.com reports.
