Black Widow may see the silver screen in a starring role.

During the As It Happens round table discussion, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel is discussing bringing another Marvel franchise to theaters, starring the Black Widow and that negotians are under way to ensure Scarlett Johansson – who filled out the deadly diva in the blockbuster Iron Man 2 – returns for the film.

“We’ve already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts,” Feige enthused during a press conference for the Iron Man 2 Blu-ray/DVD today. He then fueled the fire by teasing, “But ‘The Avengers’ comes first.”

There was speculation earlier this week over at The Wrap over a supposed death in “The Avengers”. Perhaps Widow and Scarlett fans can breathe a little easier.

Johansson will be reprising her role as the seductive spy in the upcoming Avengers film, rejoining Iron Man 2 stars Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson. If her short but amazing sequences in Iron Man 2 are any indication, she’ll fill out the bodysuit and do Widow justice no matter where Marvel takes the character.
