2010 Fall TV Premiere Week: 10 Thoughts On…Outlaw Review

10 Thoughts, Reviews, Shows

It wouldn’t be a new TV season without a few law shows. Outlaw got a jump on everyone by premiering last Wednesday, September 15. It now will air on Friday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT. It stars Jimmy Smits, who is best known from his NYPD Blue days.

Here is the synopsis of Outlaw straight from NBC:

“Cyrus Garza (Jimmy Smits) is a U.S. Supreme Court justice who abruptly quits the high-level position. A playboy and a gambler, Garza had always adhered to a strict interpretation of the law until he realized the system he believed in was flawed. Now that he’s quit the bench and returned to private practice, he’s determined to represent “the little guy” and use his inside knowledge of the justice system to take on today’s biggest legal cases — and he’s making plenty of powerful people unhappy along the way.”

My First 10 Thoughts on the “Pilot” Episode of Outlaw:

1. This is your just typical lawyer show.

2. Jimmy Smits is great in this role.

3. Smits’ character, Cyrus Garza, is pretty just like Dr. Gregory House from FOX’s House M.D..

4. Everyone around Garza plays a specific stereotypical role, which is not a good thing.

5. Jimmy Smits seems to be enjoying playing the “cocky” guy.

6. It’s too bad Smits’ character is not that likable.

7. The first case wasn’t that interesting either.

8. NBC doesn’t think it’s the greatest show, since they put it on Friday nights.

9. You really have to love Jimmy Smits to enjoy this show.

10. Smits is great as usual, but Outlaw appears to be just another law show.

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
