Herschel Walker out of Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu

News

Bad news for Strikeforce as it has been announced that former NFL great Herschel Walker has been forced to pullout of his match on the ‘Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu’ undercard. Walker suffered a deep cut from a Daniel Cormier knee in training, and the cut has failed to heal in time for him to face Scott Carson as planned. In the official release Walker could only offer apologies saying that “I feel terrible about this…I know things like this happen in all sports, but I had trained very hard and was excited to be returning to the cage again”.

This will be a terrible blow for Strikeforce, who had been hoping that Walker would draw in casual fans in an event that is airing head-to-head against The Ultimate Fighter season finale. With Walker out of action one has to wonder what chance that show has of pulling in a respectable rating against its UFC competition. On the bright side, Walker reassured the promotion and fans that they would soon see him back in action saying that “I hope to fight again as soon as the cut heals”.
