Tomasz Adamek To Meet A Klitschko Brother In September

News

Polish heavyweight Tomasz Adamek has announced today that he will face either WBC Champion Vitali Klitschko or Ring, IBF, WBO Champion Wladimir Klitschko this September in what will be one of the biggest boxing matches of recent years. The match will take place in one of the soccer stadiums being built for the 2012 Euro Championships hosted by Poland and Ukraine and will be broadcast live as Poland’s first ever pay per view boxing event.

The terms of the deal are that should either Klitschko lose their upcoming title defenses then the one that still holds championship gold will face Adamek. In the event that both brothers successfully retain their titles in the spring then the Klitschkos will choose who will face Adamek. Should both brothers lose or if Adamek loses an interim fight of his own then the deal will be off.

Adamek had been due to face Sam Peter in an IBF contender eliminator but with a title shot secured that fight has been cancelled and Adamek will take  a keepy busy fight in April instead. There had been rumors that he would face former champion Hasim Rahman but that fight looks unlikely to be made. Vitali Klitschko defends his WBC Title against mandatory challenger Olainder Solis on March 19th while Wladimir Klitschko faces British Champion Derek Chisora on April 30th.

That big fights are once again being made in the heavyweight division is greatly encouraging although WBA Champion David Haye is no rush to join the party, his promoter Adam Book is apparently talking to Jean-Marc Mormeck about a rematch of the 2007 fight where David Haye first won the WBA and WBC Crusierweight Titles. The thirty-eight year old Mormeck has fought only three times at heavyweight, failed the impress in any of his outings and was rejected by Wladimir Klitschko in favour of Derek Chisora last year.
