K.J. Noons Moving Down to Lightweight and Will Return to Strikeforce on April 9th

News

Strikeforce is adding another fighter to their April 9th card: K.J. Noons. Having recovered from the broken hand he received in his bout against Nick Diaz, Noons will also be returning to his natural weight class of 155 lbs. His move back to the lightweight division is coming off a decision loss to Diaz for the Strikeforce Welterweight title in October. His move to the division could potentially lead to a fight sometime in 2011 between Noons and Strikeforce Lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez.

The April 9th card was originally to feature the second half of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, but with the rumored title bouts that would headline the show (Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley and Gilbert Melendez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri), partnered with Noons potential addition to the card, it is pretty much assured that the Grand Prix will be moved to another date.

Previously, we had also reported that there is a bout in the works for said show featuring Roger Gracie and Gegard Mousasi for the event, so as more details about the show are revealed, we will keep you posted.
