“Yesterday, 4/8, Kurt Angle pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving for the incident that occurred on the 3/25 near Thompson, ND where Angle’s SUV was found stopped in the median of Interstate 29.

Angle initially claimed that he skidded off the road after he hit an icy patch but state troopers on the scene said that the road was dry that night. Angle later claimed he was distracted when he got a text message. The police said that they smelled alcohol on Angle’s breath at the time but since he wasn’t actually driving he couldn’t be charged with DUI. They did say that Angle failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Grand Forks County jail where his blood-alcohol level was .083 percent. The legal limit to drive in North Dakota is .08 percent.

Under the terms of a plea deal, Angle would have to pay a $475 fine, serve a year of unsupervised probation and undergo a chemical dependency evaluation. He would also receive a suspended sentence of 10 days in jail.

Angle was not in court for the plea deal, which is pending judge’s approval.”
