Super 8 Leak Traced Back To Unlikely Source: Howard Stern

News

Deadline Hollywood has gotten their hands around a juicy development in movie piracy. Super 8, well reviewed here at Inside Pulse Movies, managed to have a full screening copy find its way online. With a watermark of “H Stern” in the corner, as well as the Paramount logo, the evidence is damning.

Stern received the screener from Paramount, the studio confirmed through Deadline Hollywood, and right now no one knows how the copy got online. No indication from someone involved on the show was found indicating the leak.

What does this mean? Apparently even from someone who has been a genuinely decent person to Hollywood studios there’s always someone able to screw it up. Stern has a long history with J.J Abrams and interviewed him for the film. Stern’s daughters also appeared on an episode of Felicity, as well, which makes the story all that more interesting.

While it would be easy to say that Stern probably leaked it himself for some sort of reason, the guy has enough money to walk away from it all and doesn’t need the publicity for his radio show. It would be fairly major for Stern to do something to Abrams, with whom he has a fairly friendly relationship, and jeopardize any future dealings with Paramount.

Movie piracy is something the industry is struggling with significantly and as such if someone from a fairly reputable outlet like Howard Stern’s show can leak it then you’re going to see screeners start becoming much less frequent.
