UFC.com: Leonard Garcia – Nam Phan II at UFC 136

News

With a recent injury to UFC featherweight Matt Grice, room was made for one of the most anticipated rematches from 2010: Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan at UFC 136. After 15 minutes of furious action on last December’s “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale,” many pundits thought that Phan had won the decision only to watch Garcia’s hand raised in victory.

Now, the two will finally get to settle the score. Phan and Garcia were set for a rematch in March of this year, but an injury to Phan opened the door for another Garcia rematch, this time with Chan Sung Jung (“The Korean Zombie”). Garcia lost that match via submission, locking in the infamous twister and gaining a submission just before the end of the second round.

Since that loss, Phan has also posted a loss to Mike Brown at UFC 133 via unanimous decision.

UFC 136 is headlined by two championship matches, as UFC Lightweight champ Frankie Edgar defends against Gray Maynard while UFC Featherweight champ Jose Aldo battles Kenny Florian.
