In an official statement, John Landgraf, the President and General Manager of FX Networks, announced the cable channel is ordering a 13 episode fifth season of its hit drama series Sons of Anarchy.

Starring Charlie Hunnam, Ron Perlman and Golden Globe Award winner Katey Sagal, Sons of Anarchy continues to be FX’s highest-rated program. This season’s episodes are averaging 5.8 million total viewers for each first-run broadcast, after beginning the season with 6.5 million viewers (making it the most-watched program in FX’s history). In the Adults 18-49 Demo the viewership total is 3.9 million, which is a +26% increase from season three. Factoring in repeats and DVR views and season four is averaging around 9 million viewers each week.

Said Landgraf about the season five announcement, “Everyone at FX is very grateful to Kurt Sutter, his many writing, directing and producing collaborators and his masterful cast for making such a compelling and beautifully crafted show.”

Landgraf followed with, “The fans know how beautifully SOA meets this challenge, and we thank them for their loyal and passionate viewership.”
