PPVs, Top Story

Welcome to Pulse Wrestling’s quick and dirty live coverage of WWE Survivor Series 2011!

The announcers are Micahel Cole, Jerry Lawler and Booker T.

The event starts with John Laurenitis coming out to address the crowd. This is his 10th anniversary in WWE. Nothing of note, he got good heat.

US Title Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. John Morrison
Big news of this match was the crowd chanting for Zack Ryder the whole time. Cole mentioned during commentary that Zack was not let into the match even with a petition. Nice opener with good work and good energy. Ended with Ziggler retaining.
Winner: Ziggler

After the match, Zack Ryder came down to a HUGE pop and laid out Ziggler. Ryder was over huge.

WWE Divas Title
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Eve Torres
Almost all the divas came down for this match as it was a LUMBERJILL match. Wasn’t too bad, with Beth mostly dominating. Finish was a sick-looking front-faced powerbomb from the top rope by Beth on Eve for the pin. Natalya celebrated with Beth after the match.
Winner: Beth Phoenix

Next up the Rock cut a promo from the backstage area. First he talked about his own history at MSG, including his debut at Survivor Series 1996, talking about his terrible ringgear and haircut. He was way over with the crowd, and once again referenced John Cena’s ladyparts. Solid Rock stuff, saving the big pop for when he first makes his entrance in the arena.

Survivor Series Elimination Match
Team Barrett (Wade Barrett, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Hunico) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Sheamus, Sin Cara,
Kofi Kingston, Mason Ryan)
Announcers talked about how Randy Orton has been a record-setting 4 time survivor of an elimination style match, including the sole survivor in 2004 and 2005! Match went as expected until about halfway through, when Sin Cara caught his knee on the top rope on his way to the floor, and there was a lengthy injury break. He was just declared out of the match. It went down to 4 on 2 with only Orton and Sheamus remaining. They eliminated Hunico and Swagger, but Barrett and Rhodes survived, with Barrett pinning Orton for the win.
Winner: Team Barrett (Barrett & Rhodes)

Smackdown World Title
Mark Henry (c) vs. Big Show
Announcers talked about there being over a ton of human mass in the ring. There was extra attention paid to “reinforcing the ring” because it collapsed last month. Crowd was sour on the match early, but picked up as it went on. Big spot was Big Show going to the top rope and hitting a top rope elbow drop to a huge pop. But Mark Henry kicked out. Match continued and Henry hit a blatent low blow to cause a DQ.
Winner (by DQ): Big Show

Brawling continued after the match with Henry getting a chair but Show making his own comeback. Show went on to beat on Henry’s knee using the chair. Henry refused medical help as Big Show’s music played. Crowd chanted for Daniel Bryan, but he did not come out.

Backstage Truth and Miz do a promo that gets heavily “what”-ed in the back.

Raw World Title
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. CM Punk
Del Rio came out first, which is odd. Punk had his own personal ring announcer – Howard Finkel! Crowd popped huge for Finkel. He announced Punk. Match was pretty strong, and Punk showed he is probably the best pure worker in WWE right now. Great crowd heat and back and forth heat in the match. Del Rio got the cross arm breaker but Punk escaped, and eventually locked in the Anaconda Vice for the submission and the title. Crowd popped huge!
Winner and NEW champ: Punk

After the match, Punk celebrated in the crowd, doing a couple big crowd-surf type moves.

John Cena & Rock vs. R Truth & The Miz
Crowd was mostly negative to Cena on his entrance and popped huge for Rock. Match began with Rock and Miz, and Rock took the first segment of the match. Rock looked good in the ring, hitting his spots and doing a good job selling. Match slowed down with Cena coming in and doing a long heat sequence. Rock is back in with a hot tag, beats down both and hits a People’s Elbow on Miz for the clean pin.
Winners: Rock & Cena

After the match, Rock is celebrating in the ring alone and Cena goes to leave, but Rock calls him back and has his music lowered. They stay in the ring with some “boots to asses” chants and Rock goes to the top rope and his music plays. They go nose to nose, and Rock hits Rock Bottom on Cena.
