Former Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez is the new football coach the university confirmed.
The announcement was first made by athletic director Greg Byrne on Twitter Monday night, with a tweet reading “And the new Arizona football coach and his family is …” and a link to a twitpic of Rodriguez, his wife and two children.
Rodriguez, 48, replaces interim head coach Tim Kish, who took over for Mike Stoops last month. Stoops was fired in his eighth year as head coach after the Wildcats began the season with a dismal 1-5 record.
