Warner Bros’ Warner Archives To Bring Classic 1970s Shazam Series to DVD

The below promotional art is making the rounds through legit sources across Facebook today and will be available in limited quantities at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2012 that starts tomorrow. It would appear that this snazzy bit of art by comics great Jerry Ordway indicates that the 1970s Shazam TV series will finally be collected in DVD form (at least) by Warner Bros’ Warner Archives.

Shazam was a half-hour live-action TV series on CBS that ran from 1974 to 1977. Billy Batson, the boy who became Captain Marvel by uttering the word “Shazam!” was played by actor Michael Gray, the “role” of the Wizard Shazam was morphed into a character called Mentor played by Les Tremayne, and the hero Captain Marvel was initially played by Jackson Bostwick who was later replaced by John Davey.

I can not wait to get my hands on Warner Bros’ Warner Archives’ DVD collection for this beloved series.

FINALLY!
