Re-Animator Comes To life On Blu-ray

Disc Announcements, News

Image Entertainment has set a Blu-ray release date for Stuart Gordon’s 1985 horror classic Re-Animator for September 4th.

Starring Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott and Barbara Crampton. The film tells the story of Herbert West (Combs), a man obsessed with the idea of bringing the dead back to life. Experimenting with a glowing green fluid of his own creation he successfully reanimates dead tissue. However, the reanimated tissue proves unruly and uncontrollable. Dr. Carl Hill, West’s instructor, decides to steal his secret and take all the credit for the discovery, however West isn’t going to give up his creation without a fight. Adapted from short story “Herbert West: The Reanimator” by H.P. Lovecraft, Re-Animator is a gore filled horror classic rounded out with some great wit and humor.

According to Image Entertainment’s official listing, the Blu-ray release will be “packed with bonus features (existing from earlier DVD releases), including audio commentaries from the film’s director, producer and cast, interviews, extended scenes, galleries, and more”.

So it seems we’re not getting anything new on the special feature front, but this is a great film with some really great special effects that I think will look fantastic on Blu-ray.

You can pre-order it now for less than $13.
