CM Punk Discusses WWE ’13, Paul Heyman Guys And Breakout Stars In THQ Interview

News

Recently, the “Voice of the Voiceless” fielded a number of questions from WWE Games Community Manager Aubrey Sitterson regarding the current state of the WWE, what he thought about the “Attitude Era,” his opinions about The Rock, and more.

Here are some of the highlights.

On matches that Punk is dying to have.

Punk: It’s almost kind of depressing – I think I’ve worked everyone there is. With that being said, everyone is constantly changing and learning and evolving and growing, so to go back and revisit someone with a little bit of character change – someone like Dolph Ziggler – would be fun. I would love to do something extensive with Tyson Kidd. It’s all in the presentation and how the storyline unfolds.

The key difference that separates Stone Cold Steve Austin from The Rock.

Punk: Stone Cold being Stone Cold – that is who that guy is. He is a redneck from Texas who likes to drink beer and beat people up. The Rock is Dwayne Johnson dialed up a level. It’s Dwayne Johnson trying really hard… Do you know what I mean? To me it’s just a difference of somebody being themselves as opposed to somebody playing a character.

On the trait(s) that all the “Paul Heyman guys” have in common.

Punk: I think myself and the other “Paul Heyman guys” are very much individuals. We all have an independent spirit. We might not even like each other, but that, in essence, is what makes us Heyman guys. We all do our own thing and we’ve all, in one way or another, paved hell for another generation to come through. And whether that was our intention or not, that’s kind of our legacy. Look what Brock has done, look what I’ve done, look what Stone cold Steve Austin’s done. Three radically different human beings, but the common link is that we are all individuals. We do what we want – we don’t care what other people think or say. Except for maybe Paul Heyman.
