UPDATED: Ric Flair Taken to Emergency Room With Apparent Health Issue (Leg), Bows out of Wrestling Match in Japan

UPDATE: Flair supposedly suffered a blood clot in his left leg. He refused to check in to the emergency room or go to a hospital after the show, and is still planning on attending scheduled autograph signings in Las Vegas after flying back to the U.S.

Original story below:

Ric Flair was slated to wrestle in the main event of an All Japan Pro Wrestling show today, but the Nature Boy was forced to bow out of the match due to doctor’s orders. Flair did attend the event, but his son Reid Flair took his place in the match. Reports The Wrestling Observer: “Flair was taken to the emergency room before the show due to a sudden health issue and the doctor there told him there was no way he could wrestle. Those backstage said his left leg was badly swollen.”

The Observer adds that Ric Flair did interfere in the main event match, which was Seiya Sanada & Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Keiji Muto & Reid Flair. However, this didn’t appease many fans at the sold-out show who thought it would be their very last chance to see Flair wrestle in a match. “Many fans were in the building [were] talking about wanting refunds and were upset nothing was offered,” according to sources that informed The Observer of Flair’s condition and cancellation as a main event competitor for this show.
